Fife Rural Development Fund (FRDF) is financed by the Scottish Government and is managed by the Fife Local Action Group (LAG).  The Fife LAG is responsible for all governance and funding decisions made regarding grant allocations to projects delivering benefit to communities in rural Fife.

The Scottish Government has confirmed an initial allocation of funding to cover capital projects in rural Fife running from end of May/early June 2025 to end of February 2026. To qualify for funding, projects must meet at least one of the funds priorities for this year:

    • Rural community capacity building
    • Increased employment, skills development and volunteering opportunities for all
    • Project activities that encourage the creation of a resilient local economy e.g. nature restoration, protection and biodiversity, local solutions to service provision and connectivity issues, improved health and wellbeing, and agri-tourism
    • Projects that promote increased diversity, inclusion, equality, and access for all

    Funding available

Applications are limited to one per organisation.

Grants of up to £15,000 will be available to projects approved by Fife LAG. In exceptional circumstances, grants of up to £25,000 could be considered.

This funding is for capital projects only (e.g. renovation of a community facility). Grant payments are made in arrears.

All projects must be completed, with final claims submitted, by 28 February 2026.

    Who can apply?

Any groups or organisations that are properly constituted including community groups, charities, community interest companies, and voluntary organisations. The funding is also open to businesses/agricultural businesses, provided your project is of benefit to the community.
