    Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) has published a State of the Sector 2024 report which gives an overview of third sector activity in Scotland in terms of finance and income.

    The report explores the sector's income, how Scotland's third sector funding compares to the rest of the UK, and how donations and fundraising impact funds. 

    Key facts from the report include: 

    • There are over 46,500 voluntary sector organisations in Scotland 
    • In a typical year 4 in 5 households use a voluntary sector service
    • In 2023 the voluntary sector's turnover in Scotland was £9.7 billion - the sector spent £9.3 billion in the same period to provide services and carry out activities
