FVA lunchtime learning sessions are aimed at raising the skills and capacities of local service providers interested in improving or enhancing their provision in Fife.

Multiple benefits supporting vulnerable people in poverty are now available from Social Security Scotland. These rolled out in autumn 2020 and more have launched over the past few years.

Many of these benefits, which are specifically targeted to those in particularly difficult circumstances, are unfamiliar to third sector practitioners and their clients. Social Security Scotland have also invested in significant developments improving the way clients can find out about and apply for these benefits, and how they can communicate with Social Security Scotland to get support for the application process.

At this session Claire Lister, Partnership and Events Manager for Social Security Scotland, will introduce us to the wide range of benefits now available and will guide us through Social Security Scotland’s plans for the future.

    Learning outcomes will include:

    • Understanding of the range of benefits available through Social Security Scotland, including:
      • Five Family Payments (Best Start Foods, Grant & Scottish Child Payment)
      • Job Start Payment
      • Funeral Support Payment
      • Young Carer Grant
      • Winter Heating Payment
      • Child Winter Heating Payment
