Link Academy is now accepting referrals for the SmartLiving programme.
Created: 07/02/2025Link Academy is now accepting referrals for the SmartLiving programme.
SmartLiving is an opportunity for young people aged 16-24 to work on personal development and employability skills and to take part in a unique volunteering opportunity.
Participants will have access to a range of SQA-accredited qualifications to help them achieve their personal development goals. They will also receive training to assist in the delivery of the SmartLiving programme in Fife High Schools as volunteer peer educators. This involves co-delivering workshops about homelessness and independent living to small groups of young people in the school environment, supported by a LinkLiving project worker.
Commitment to the programme is two days per week – one for participants' development and one for assisting with the school programme.
Sessions will run from Kirkcaldy and in schools throughout Fife.
LinkLiving will cover travel expenses and provide lunch and refreshments throughout.
The combination of group work, undertaking qualifications, and volunteering allows participants to build key skills and experience for the world of work and helps them work towards their individual goals.
This opportunity is ideal for those interested in youth work, teaching, or training roles, or those who want to build confidence and experience in a supportive environment.
Experience of living independently is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.
