Fife Gingerbread's CEO Laura Miller presents their Stargazing strategy.

Over recent months Fife Gingerbread have embarked on a stargazing exercise to consider where they are now and where they'd like to be. They have engaged with their board, staff, volunteers, and parents forum to explore short-term priorities and longer term ambitions.

As part of this process they revisited their values, reimagining these to reflect who they are today and their hopes for the future. They worked collaboratively to re-imagine their values to ensure that they are meaningful to families, volunteers, and staff. Their Stargazing values are:

    • Courage - Be brave, passionate, and strive to make a difference
    • Connected - Build connections and a sense of belonging for all
    • Genuine - Be a caring employer, family support service, and partner organisation
    • Flourish - Cultivate an environment where staff, volunteers, and families can achieve their potential with opportunities to adapt, evolved, and learn

Their immediate priorities over the next 12-18 months include:

    • Reimagining their board and leadership approach
    • Offering staff good, well paid employment that enables a healthy work/life balance
    • Revisiting their approach to financial governance and management
    • Identifying and mitigate risks
    • Being a good partner organisation
    • Finalising a strengths-based volunteer strategy

Their longer term goals over the next 2-3 years include:

    • Revisiting and embedding a Quality Assurance framework
    • Speeding up efforts to meaningfully embed lived experience in the organisation
    • Continuing to commission research within family support services
    • Ensuring that learning, emerging themes, and family's voices are amplified
    • Developing an innovative and ambitious fundraising architecture
