Fife Communities Climate Action Network - Seed and Development Funds
Created: 03/02/2025Great news for all community groups looking to build their projects or start a new one with a nature or environmental focus. Fife Communities Climate Action Network (FCCAN) have re-opened their Seed and Development Grants part of their Community Climate Grants scheme which offers community groups the chance to bag a £1,000 boost to their climate projects.
The grants are part of the Community Climate Grants scheme, a joint initiative between Fife Climate Hub and Climate Action Fife. They provide an excellent opportunity to launch new projects, expand existing plans, or build on ongoing community work.
Grants in the past have provided funding for community group activity such as an improved allotment for the use of the homeless at Glenrothes YMCA, a food project at Love and Harmony Fife's LGBTQ+ Hub, and a polytunnel for Silverburn Park's community garden.
Launched in December 2023 Community Climate Grants are made up of two funds, Seed & Development Funds (up to £1,000) from Fife Climate Hub and Small Grants (up to £500) from Climate Action Fife. Fife Climate Hub is a project of Fife Communities Climate Action Network (FCCAN) and part of Scotland-wide network of Climate Action Hubs, funded by the Scottish Government. Its Seed and Development Fund supports groups in Fife to develop impactful climate initiatives. It can cover diverse costs such as training, feasibility studies, website development, and securing match funding.
In addition to this fund, groups can also apply for Peer-to-Peer Support Funding, enabling collaboration with other inspiring community groups. Combining these funds, the groups can receive guidance from a community group that inspires or helps to launch a community group’s work or progress it to the next level.
How to apply
Applications are open to all community groups in Fife with a constitution and a bank account, including those that have previously received grants. For full details and to apply, visit www.fccan.org.uk/community-climate-grants/
The closing date for applications is Saturday 01 March 2025, or until the funds are empty. Successful applicants must complete their projects by 22 March 2025.
