    Created: 25/01/2025
    News/Events Category: Job Vacancies

    Post: Catering Assistant
    Contract: Permanent
    Job reference: ON000536
    Hours: 6 hours per week
Salary: £23,783.40 per annum pro rata (£12.67 per hour. Enhanced rates of £16.89 per hour for evenings after 8pm and weekend working)
    Location: Lochgelly Centre

OnFife is Fife's largest cultural organisation specialising in making jaws drop, hearts warm, eyes light up, and imaginations run wild. They work with a huge range of partners, artists, and creatives, and their spaces are some of Fife's favourite places. An ambitious leadership-oriented charity, they're built on strong values, and those values make them who they are - fearless, inviting, fair, and exciting.

OnFife is a real Living Wage employer offering a local government pension scheme, generous holiday allowance, and flexible working opportunities. If you need to travel for work, they can provide pool cars if you're near head office or pay travel expenses so you are not out of pocket. In addition, you can also access discounted gym/swim memberships and other employee benefits.

    The Role

You will be part of the on-site catering team undertaking duties relating to the operation of their cafe, preparing/serving food and beverages, recording payments, general kitchen hygiene, and maintaining a welcoming front of house area.

The working pattern for this permanent position is Thursdays and Fridays, 10.30-1.30, although flexibility to meet business needs is desired. This may include weekend and evening working when programmed events are planned within the venue offering bar service.

    About You

This role will suit someone who is a real foodie, someone who can communicate with various teams and enjoys working with the public, and someone who provides excellent customer service naturally. This is the perfect opportunity for an individual with the right drive and passion who is interested in developing both their catering and hospitality skills, and their knowledge in a role, whilst being part of a larger team.

You will ideally have similar experience in a catering environment, and have cooking and preparation skills, bar knowledge, and barista training. You will have knowledge of health and safety requirements and a good understanding of allergens in the food environment. You will be a team player who will be energetic, with good literacy and numeracy skills, and a flexible 'can do' attitude. You'll take pride in your working environment and provide a professional and courteous service to visitors.
