Fife Council, Fife Voluntary Action, Citizens Advice and Rights Fife, Fife Health and Social Care Partnership, and Cosy Kingdom have partnered to deliver a day of training about poverty awareness for Fife's third sector workers. The training will include three sessions.

Session 1: Benefits Awareness and OurFife Benefits Checker Awareness

This training provides insight into Fife's Benefits Checker and an overview of the OurFife toolkit.

Both parts of the training will aid you in discussions with Fife service users, empowering you to help people achieve their maximum possible entitlements to welfare benefits. The system is specifically designed for people living in Fife.

Session 2: Energy Efficiency and Fuel Poverty Skills Awareness Session Child Poverty Awareness

Cosy Kingdom offers free training for frontline staff and volunteers to help people to stay warm and well.  The training is delivered by Robert Keddie, a qualified energy advisor who has worked in the UK domestic energy sector for over 35 years.

    Course content includes -

    • Fuel poverty in Fife
    • Introduction to Cosy Kingdom
    • Healthy homes
    • Billing and metering
    • Grants and schemes
    • Condensation and dampness
    • Saving energy

Session 3: Poverty Awareness Information - Children & Young People

The aim of this session is to provide an overview of how poverty can impact children and young peoples’ health, education, and developmental milestones and how to equip participants with the knowledge to provide practical help and support.

    Training Goals

You will leave the training with:

    • Knowledge to help you support clients and service users who would benefit from basic advice about energy efficiency and staying warm and well through winter
