Balwearie High School students wrap presents for Salvation Army Christmas Toy Appeal
Created: 18/12/2024A group of volunteer students from Balwearie High School gave their time to wrap kids’ Christmas gifts as part of Salvation Army’s Christmas Toy Appeal.
Organised by Fife Voluntary Action (FVA), the event was a chance to celebrate Balwearie High School’s 60th anniversary – by wrapping 60 gifts for children in the local community.
Volunteers spent their lunch break wrapping gifts that have been donated by local people. The presents are then gifted to children who have been referred from schools, health workers, social services or charities, to ensure they have a present for Christmas.
The group was joined by staff from FVA who also donated their time and present-wrapping skills to bring much-needed gifts and joy, with all presents wrapped and ready to be delivered across the community.
Alyson Hutton, Volunteering Development Officer at FVA, said “It was a fantastic event with so many young people turning up to join in the festive fun and showing how easy it is to get involved in volunteering.”
Andrew Booth, Depute Head S5/6 of Balwearie High School, said “Thank you to FVA for all their help in running the event. It was a lot of fun and a great way for our current students to mark the 60th anniversary of the school.”
