  • Scottish Budget Key Changes 2025-26

    The Scottish Budget for 2025-26 was announced on 04 November 2024. Key changes include: 

    • A proposal to effectively abolish the two child benefit cap (with Westminster agreement) which will help to lift 15,000 children in Scotland out of poverty 
    • Staff in early learning and childcare to be paid at least real Living Wage from April 2025 
    • Social care funding increased by 25% 
    • Hospital at Home to receive 600 more beds 
    • The introduction of Bright Start Breakfasts which will result in more breakfast clubs in primary schools 
    • £800 million more in social security benefits "ensuring benefits rise by inflation" 
    • £768 million for social rent, mid-market and low-cost home ownership 
    • £120 million for headteachers to address poverty-related attainment gap 
    • £4 million for homelessness and prevention pilots 
    • £2.5 million to support actions with Disability Equality Action Plan 
    • A total of £21 billion for health and social care - this is an increase of £2 billion for NHS Boards
