Growing Climate Confidence, an initiative from the Scottish Council of Volunary Organisations, is an online resource for third sector organisations to consider how their carbon footprint can be managed and how to implement a climate awareness strategy within their organisation.
The checker allows organisations to map their climate impact along the main measures of:
- Buildings and Energy
- Travel
- Buying and selling
- Waste
- Engagement
Information about organisational strategies and practices that is needed to make best use of the checker will include:
- Energy tariff – what kind of energy
- Energy performance in offices – including draught proofing, lightbulbs, and any other enhancements
- Staff commuting - common travel habits and any policies
- Purchasing policy – how do you work with current and new suppliers
- Waste - awareness of what happens with waste.
Growing Climate Confidence subsequently scores the organisation's climate impact and sends automated e-mails to registrants to encourage engagement with the green space and can offer helpful tips and suggestions to make your organisation more climate-friendly.
