    Dr Laura Robertson of the Poverty Alliance reflects on how experiencing poverty can negatively impact the right to education and recommends the introduction of widespread mentoring and tutoring opportunities to address the poverty-related attainment gap.

    With support from The Robertson Trust, the Poverty Alliance carried out research into what could make a real difference to attainment. This started with a review of the research evidence around the issue, and was followed up with a report which revealed that despite the evidence that it works, young people living in poverty still don’t have equal access to high quality tutoring free of charge.
