    The Home Office is replacing Biometric Residence Permits (BRP) with digital eVisas. All physical BRP cards will expire on 31 December 2024. 

    This applies to both new visa applicants and those requesting a replacement immigration document. From Friday 01 November 2024, all successful applicants will now be told in their grant letter that they will receive an eVisa, along with instructions on how to create or access their UKVI account, and how to link their travel document to their eVisa for international travel.

    Information Sessions for Individuals

    Scottish Refugee Council is holding a series of free, multilingual information sessions on Zoom, where people can find out how these changes might affect them, and what they need to do. 

    Sessions take place on the following dates:

    Monday 11 November 2024 2.00-4.00 English, Vietnamese, Tigrinya
    Thursday 21 November 2024 10.00-2.00 English, Arabic, Kurdish Sorani
    Monday 02 December 2024 2.00-4.00 English, Ukrainian

    At each session, their expert advisers will cover:

    • What is an eVisa?
    • Who needs one?
    • How to set up an eVisa
    • Where to get help with your eVisa
    • Where to find more information 

    There will also be opportunities to ask questions.

    Information Sessions for Voluntary Organisations 

    There is an information session specifically for voluntary organisations at 2.00-3.00 on Wednesday 20 November 2024. 

    The session will include: 

    • An update on the eVisa transition
    • A demonstration of how to create a UKVI account
    • How to create a UKVI account for people with no identification
    • An update on what this means for different groups including those on refugees and resettlement routes
    • Support resources: Discover where to find help and support, including for vulnerable people 
    • Review of frequently asked questions
