Understanding Universal Credit
Created: 26/09/2024Universal Credit is rolling out as a replacement for many people’s benefits across Scotland.
Universal Credit is a benefits system for people in work, looking for work or unable to work. It brings together six older benefits and helps make sure customers and clients are getting the financial support they are entitled to from one source.
The move to Universal Credit is being rolled out in phases and is not yet complete in Fife. It can be a complex and daunting process for people who are out of work.
At this session, Jen Ferguson and James McLean from Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) will help participants understand how employability practitioners can continue to support those who are now on Universal Credit in terms of application, online access, and making queries about benefit decisions.
