British Science Association - Kick Start Grants

News/Events Category: Funding and FinanceThe British Science Association, with funding from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, is providing grants for schools in challenging circumstances to organise their own science and engineering events.
There is a £400 grant available to allow you to put on events during British Science Week (07-16 March 2025).
For organisations that are not schools, a separate Community Grants programme is available.
Fund award sizes
Maximum: £400
Notes on award amounts: £400 is available for your school to run science events during British Science Week. This is a chance from previous years where amounts depended on activities, and is a now a simplified approach.
Who can apply
- Your organisation is a school, college, or Ofsted-registered Early Years nursery or preschool
- The school is in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland
- The school is a state-funded school. Independent Special Schools that receive local authority funding for pupil places are also eligible. The school is not academically selective
- The young people taking part in the activity/event are aged between 3 and 19
- The school meets at least one of the following additional eligibility criteria:
- A minimum of 30% of pupils are eligible for Pupil Premium, Free School Meals, or equivalent
- A minimum of 30% of pupils are from ethnic minority backgrounds*
- The school is based in a remote and rural location**
