City Region Deal signs the Community Wealth Building Pledge
Created: 30/08/2024The Edinburgh & South East Scotland City Region Deal has formally committed to the Community Wealth Building Pledge, ensuring that these principles are integrated across all Deal projects.
Launched last year by the Integrated Regional Employability & Skills (IRES) programme through the Integrated Employer Engagement Project, the pledge has been instrumental in guiding projects to align more closely with the ethos of Community Wealth Building.
Andy Nichol, Head of the Programme Management Office for the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal, has signed the pledge on behalf of all projects, reinforcing the Deals commitment to fostering inclusive growth across the region.
Adam Dunkerley, IRES Programme lead said "Embedding a community wealth building ethos into the IRES partnership is crucial because it ensures that the £25 million investment not only delivers the projected 14,700 skills improvements, 5,300 employment opportunities, and 500 career enhancements, but also promotes inclusive economic growth. By prioritising local assets and equitable opportunities, we can build a resilient economy that benefits all members of the community, creating a sustainable and thriving region for years to come."
