    Post: Community Tree Planting Assistant 
    Contract: Fixed term until end of March 2025 
    Hours: 36 hours per week (including weekend work which is paid time + 1/3) 
    Salary: £23,633 – £25,829 
    Location: The Pitcairn Centre, Moidart Drive, Glenrothes, KY7 6ET 

     

    Tree Planting Assistant (seasonal) will support community tree planting across Fife and make an important contribution to the exciting new Fife Climate Forest. Working with the Community Tree Planting Officer and reporting to the Fife Climate Forest Community Engagement Manager, the successful candidate will deliver their work as part of the FCCT Conservation and Engagement (C & E) team. Working closely with other partner agencies including Fife Council, third sector organisations, community groups and volunteers is essential for success in this job and so we are looking for an excellent collaborator. 

    About you

    FCCT is looking for a driven and proactive individual to join their team. You will bring with you the following skills and experience. 

    Essential characteristics (including but not limited to):  

    • Educated to SCQF level 6, which includes an HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g., Countryside Management). Time-served experience in a relevant position will also be considered
    • Experience of practical countryside or land management, including tree planting and tree care
    • Ability to work with a wide variety of people to achieve desired outcomes  
    • Experience of working with volunteers
    • Organisational skills and confidence to take initiative as required  
    • Proactive and hard-working attitude
    • Adaptable and motivational team worker
    • Experience of supporting events in a community setting and with a variety of groups
    • Ability to travel to and work from various locations throughout Fife independently
    • A good time manager, able to manage competing priorities
    • Good verbal and written communication skills with a friendly, approachable style   
    • IT Skills (Embrace technology & information), competent with Microsoft suite of products and on-line conferencing platforms
