Youth 1st Sustainable Fashion Competition
Created: 23/07/2024Youth 1st have launched a design competition in association with Climate Action Fife ahead of the Fife Climate Festival (21 September-05 October). The event aims to celebrate all of Ffie Community Climate Action.
The competition, called Junk Kouture, is an opportunity for young people to re-design fashion with a powerful message about recycling.
Do you think you have what it takes to be the next Coco Chanel? Admire Tommy Hilfiger, or can you create accessories like Louboutin? Then show them your designs and prove that upcycling is the way forward.
Can you pave the way towards a more sustainable future through creativity and innovation? This competition aims to empower young people to make a difference on how we view fashion, and its trends.
The competition is open to all young people, in three different categories - aged 8-12, 12-15, and 15+ - and challenges young people to design, upcycle, and create funky fashion from recycled junk. It can be anything fashion-related - clothes, bags, hats, jewellery - get creative!
There will be voucher prizes for first, second, and third place winners. The winners will showcase their designs on the red carpet at this years Youth 1st AGM on 19 September 2024. The designs will also be exhibited as part of the climate trail leading up to this years #BigDayOot - a Climate Festival staged at Silverburn on 05 October.
