DWP Consultation - Health and Disability Green Paper Consultation
Created: 13/05/2024The Modernising Support Green Paper explores how the welfare system could be redesigned to ensure people with disabilities and long-term health conditions get the support they need to achieve the best outcomes, with an approach that focusses on supporting on those with the greatest needs and extra costs. Ideas include removing the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessment altogether for people with certain long term health conditions or disabilities, including those with terminal illnesses to reduce bureaucracy and make life easier for those most in need of support.
The government want to ensure the welfare system is fit for the future, with a system that supports work for people who can, provides a safety net for people who need it, and that is fair to the taxpayer.
The consultation seeks views on whether they should make fundamental changes to how they support disabled people and people with health conditions, and whether the system delivers the right support to people most in need.
Please share with your clients and audiences and respond to the consultation.
