NCVO - Charity Banking Challenges Survey 2024
Created: 15/04/2024Banking can be a frustrating and challenging experience for many charities. NCVO and the Charity Finance Group recently launched their 2024 survey of charities’ experiences of banking and are inviting all voluntary organisations to complete the survey and have their say. By sharing your views and experiences, you’ll help third sector bodies to advocate for better banking services for voluntary organisations.
Why is the survey needed?
OSCR and the other UK charity regulators have been working with UK Finance (the professional body for the banking sector) and national representative bodies from the charity sector (including SCVO and NCVO) to raise awareness of the current challenges charities face with banking.
In November 2023 they issued a joint open letter to the UK’s main high street banks which highlighted some of the main challenges for charities, including:
Despite this, there are still many ongoing challenges for charities. By completing the survey, you will provide critical evidence to support the drive for policy and legislative change for improved access to banking products and services for the third sector.
Who is the survey for?
The survey is open to all charities, voluntary and community organisations across the UK.
It can be completed by anyone who has responsibility for managing a voluntary organisation’s banking activity – including trustees, volunteers, staff members and professional advisors.
To complete the survey, you’ll need to be very familiar with the day-to-day management of your organisation’s bank account.
How do I complete the survey?
The voluntary sector banking challenges survey 2024 is an online survey.
The survey takes around 10-15 minutes to complete and must be completed in one sitting, so you may wish to review the questions before you begin to ensure you have the relevant information to hand.
The closing date for responses is 11.59am on Wednesday 15 May 2024.
