    Post: Community Development Officer (Funding) 
    Contract: Fixed term to 31 March 2025 with the possibility of extension subject to continued funding 
    Hours: 35 or 28 per week, including some evenings and Saturday work 
    Salary: Up to £31,146 per annum, pro rata + 6% contribution to pension scheme 
    Location: Hybrid - home and FCCAN's office in Lochgelly

     

    Fife Communities Climate Action Network (FCCAN) is a network of community groups in Fife that are taking action on climate change. They are a Community Interest Company (CIC – registration number SC674589). FCCAN's aim is to empower and enable communities to create a low carbon future, and promote local resilience and wellbeing. By working through this network, they share information, resources and knowledge whilst tackling the barriers to low carbon living in Fife. FCCAN also act as a channel of communication with Fife Council and the wider Scottish Communities Climate Action Network to whom they are affiliated. This post will be part of FCCAN’s Fife Climate Hub team, funded by the Scottish Government.  

    About The Role 

    The Community Development Officer (Funding) will contribute to the delivery of Fife Climate Hub’s vision. The post holder will support existing FCCAN members, as well as other community groups looking to take climate action, to access funding to deliver climate action projects. They will act as a key liaison between FCCAN members, Fife communities and national and regional funders.

    The Community Development Officer will signpost groups to relevant funding opportunities and support them through the application process. This includes delivering Fife Climate Hub’s Community Climate Grants scheme, a small grants fund delivered in partnership with Climate Action Fife. The post holder will work closely and collaboratively with the Community Development Officer (Engagement), Senior Project Officer and Communications and PR Officer to ensure funding and training opportunities are shared with groups and communities. 

    About You 

    You should have:

    • Experience in a fundraising role - finding funding opportunities, researching and writing successful applications
    • Experience creating and using a fundraising database
    • Experience working with communities and networks and building strong working relationships with diverse individuals and groups
    • Knowledge of climate change and challenges this poses to communities in Fife

    You will have the following qualities, which are essential to this role:

    • Excellent attention to detail and accurate record keeping
    • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
    • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise and balance your workload
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate and empower others
    • Excellent numeracy skills

    Other requirements: Travel within Fife may be necessary to visit community projects. The post holder may also be required occasionally to travel out with Fife via public transport. Travel expenses will be reimbursed. 

    33 days inclusive of public holidays, per annum, pro rata  The post-holder will be subject to a Disclosure Scotland check.
