Social Security Scotland - Information on re-determination and appeals
Created: 05/04/2024Social Security Scotland have recently clarified that they want to make the re-determination process as easy as possible.
Clients requesting a re-determination are reminded that they must sign the form themselves, or have it signed by their officially registered appointee - even if they have third party assistant to fill out their other details.
If a client is unable to sign the form, Social Security Scotland will contact the client to gain verbal consent.
Application response letters from Social Security Scotland come with a paper form for re-determinations or appeals. If people wish to challenge the response, they must fill out the form, have the client sign it, and post it to Social Security Scotland offices. If there is no form available, you can find downloadable redetermination and appeals forms on the Scottish Government website.
Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment decisions can also be appealed online.
More information on re-determinations and appeals can be found at the Social Security Scotland website.
