NHS Fife - Professionals' Expressive Art Workshop to promote wellbeing in children and young people
Created: 20/03/2024This training workshop offers professionals the opportunity to learn about art psychotherapy and the benefits of art making on our emotional wellbeing. Art provides young people an alternative way to express and communicate their internalised thoughts, feelings or emotions. Art and image making can help people externalise these internalised thoughts and find new ways to express themselves, which in turn can help those supporting the young person to understand their emotions and gain insight into their internal world.
At the workshop there will be opportunity to explore our own image making and be creative, reflecting on how art can support our own wellbeing through an outdoor mindful walk and art session. You will also have the chance to explore creative stations where it is hoped that you will learn new strategies to use to support children and young people using image-based resources.
Please note that at the end of this workshop, professionals will not be trained in art psychotherapy. This training is to increase creativity to promote mental wellbeing.
Who should attend?
This workshop is suitable for anyone who works with children or young people in Fife.
Facilitators: Fife CAMHS Primary Mental Health Workers.
