K107FM receives national recognition at 2023 Community Radio Awards
Created: 21/11/2023K107FM has followed on from success at Fife Voluntary Action’s 2023 Voluntary Sector and Volunteering Awards, to been recognised at the 2023 Community Radio Awards, with the station receiving four nominations across three categories.
The station was nominated twice for 'Live Event or Outside Broadcast of the Year' for their coverage of both the Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival Half Marathon and Kirkcaldy’s Christmas Spotlights in 2022. Mike Butterworth was also nominated as ‘Volunteer of the Year’.
On the night, the station went on to win an award in their third category, with a Bronze award for ‘Specialist Music Show of the Year’ which was presented to Currently Country presenter, Billy Anderson at the awards ceremony which was held in Newcastle on Saturday 04 November.
This is now the fourth successive year of Community Radio Award wins from the Kirkcaldy- based station. The awards themselves are the culmination of an intensive judging process to recognise those producing great quality content and engaging with their communities.
Billy Anderson said “I’m really pleased with this award, it’s great for country music. I’d like to thank the team at K107FM for their continued support for the show.”
A K107FM spokesperson said “We’re delighted to have been nominated once again, and with only five finalists in each category, a nomination is a huge achievement for a volunteer led station like us. Furthermore it truly reflects our focus of the past year or so, on local events and community engagement, the strength of our volunteers and it’s also a win within the Specialist Music category for the second year in a row!. We’re proud of Mike and our events team as finalists, and pleased to see Billy’s dedication to country music being recognised."
