    Aims

    The aim of the course is to enable participants to increase their knowledge, skills and confidence in facilitating groups using the early years playaway booklets.

    Learner Outcomes

    By the end of this course participants will have:

    • Explored the three playaway activity booklets;
    • Explored a variety of factors that make a successful group;
    • An overview of several frameworks and models to help them better understand how groups work and how individuals learn;
    • Experienced a number of groupwork tools and techniques ‘in action’;
    • Identified a variety of ways to troubleshoot challenging situations.

    Who should attend?

    • Any early years or physical activity practitioner who wants to deliver playaway groups;
    • Playaway are three booklets which provide session plans to deliver interactive group sessions based on the Play@Home books;
    • The session plans cover interactive play session covering 6-12 months, 14-30 months and 3-5years;
    • The benefits of delivering playaway groups within the community can improve parent and carers confidence in playing and connecting with their child and supports early years physical development and social skills;
    • “Playaway triggered a desire in parents to move onto another physical activity group for children.” (session provider)
