Social Security Scotland - supporting information for child disability payment applications
Created: 31/08/2023Social Security Scotland have recently announced that research shows that some potential applicants for Child Disability Payment may not be aware of what necessary supporting information they require to submit their application.
Social Security Scotland is working to help people understand what helpful supporting information for disability payments looks like.
Potential applications may not know what kinds of documents are useful to support their application, such as social care assessments, prescription lists or appointment letters. However, it can also be because people don’t realise supporting information can come from a range of professionals. For example, if someone regularly sees a counsellor, physical therapist or support worker, they could be a better source of supporting information than a GP they may not have contacted for some time.
Examples of supporting information are available on MyGov.Scot or on the Social Security Scotland website
Social Security Scotland has made more decisions on Child Disability Payment applications in the last quarter than ever before. You can read more on the Child Disability Payment statistics here.
