Volunteers' Week is an opportunity to take stock of the wonderful work done by volunteers and recognise the extent of their contributions. It's sometimes easy to take for granted what people do for others in their own time- we want to make sure that it's not forgotten.

We're hosting a Volunteer Tribute Event at the Mercat Centre (Kirkcaldy), and we're inviting you to share details about the fine work done by volunteers in your life - whether they volunteer for your organisation or help you as a service user, or are even just someone in your community whose work you feel should be recognised.

We'll be displaying the messages we receive in the Mercat Centre, and we're inviting members of the public to come along and find out more about the amazing work done by volunteers across Fife. We'll also have lots of information about how to get involved in volunteering and the opportunities available in Fife for those that are feeling inspired by what they see.

    How to say thanks

Message us by e-mail or one of our socials linked below and let us know:

    • the name of the volunteer
    • where they volunteer and in what role
    • why they deserve a little bit of recognition (try to keep this to no more than 150 words)
    • if you want, some pictures, videos or other media of them in action - feel free to be creative!

Just remember that some people feel uncomfortable in the spotlight. We want to ensure their work is recognised, but ask their permission before you share their details and let us know they want to be anonymous.

You can also pop into any of our offices and leave the details in person. Please mark them in an envelope labelled Volunteer Tribute.

We need to receive your messages by Wednesday 30 May (17:00) to guarantee inclusion.

And remember to come and visit us at the Mercat Centre on Friday 02 June (09:00 - 17:00) to see the tributes to volunteers left by others, and to talk to some of our volunteering development team about how you can get involved with volunteering.
