This is a 2 day training course being held in the large training room at FVA's offices at Caledonia House on both days.

    Dates:

    Monday    31 July 2023  -  9:00 - 4:30

Participants must be able to attend on both days.  You only need to book once - registering your details for the first day guarantees your place at the second day.

This training enables participants to recognise invitations for help and to intervene to prevent the immediate risk of suicide and thereby reduce suicide rates in the longer term.

    It helps participants to:

    • Understand the ways personal and societal attitudes affect views on suicide interventions.
    • Provide guidance and suicide first-aid to a person at risk in ways that meet their individual safety needs.
    • Identify the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan and the actions required to implement it.
    • Appreciate the value of improving and integrating suicide prevention resources in the community at large.
    • Recognise other important aspects of suicide prevention including life-promoting and self-care.

    Who is the training for?

Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants do not need any formal training to attend – ASIST can be learned and used by anyone aged 16 years and older.
