    Post: Vacancy for Assistant Manager (Part Time)
    Hours: 16 hours-Sundays and Mondays

    The Village Cafe-Ceres Community Centre have an exciting opportunity to join their wonderful cafe team. They are looking for an Assistant Manager (part time) to work with the Manager and Volunteers to continue the development of our wonderful community cafe. 

    The main tasks would be:

    • Provide excellent customer service, making it a friendly and welcoming environment;
    • Prepare drinks and food to order in a timely manner and to a high standard;
    • Monitor and record relevant steps and activities of food preparation and hot and cold storage to ensure food is safe for consumption and that Health and Safety guidelines are complied with;
    • Ensure that all volunteers comply with the required level of food hygiene within the cafe;
    • Maintenance of food temperature records;
    • Ensure that the caf is stocked appropriately at the end of the day;
    • Record daily takings on the appropriate schedule and arrange hand over of cash to Manager;
    • Ensure kitchen space and caf are left clean and tidy and waste is appropriately discarded during the day and at the end of each day;
    • Open and close the caf at the beginning and end of each shift.

    Qualification and Educational Requirements;

    • Food hygiene Level 3 (preferred but not essential);
    • First aid certificate;
    • Working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements to ensure working environment kept free from hazards.

    Preferred Experience and Skills;

    • Good kitchen and food skills;
    • Food preparation experience;
    • Enthusiastic with a strong work ethic;
    • A good team player.

    The ideal candidate would be:

    • Be hardworking and work well as part of a team;
    • Work to consistent high standards and can demonstrate a passion for delivering great customer care and food service;
    • Be a good communicator;
    • Pay attention to detail;
    • Be proactive in offering new ideas for improvement;
    • Have a 'can do' attitude.
