    News/Events Category: General News

The Cold Weather Payment in Scotland is changing.  The Scottish Government are planning to introduce the new Winter Heating Payment to help eligible people who might have extra heating costs during the winter.

This new payment will replace Cold Weather Payment from the Department for Work and Pensions. It will provide a reliable £50 payment every winter to around 400,000 people on low-incomes to help with their heating expenses. Social Security Scotland will make the payment regardless of the temperature.

Payments will start to be paid automatically from February 2023.  Social Security Scotland has launched an advertising campaign to make sure people are aware of these changes so they can plan accordingly and will provide materials for stakeholders to help raise awareness of this too early in the new year.
