  • Cosy Kingdom - Christmas opening hours and where to go for support – 2022

    Created: 20/12/2022, Updated: 22/12/2022

Cosy Kingdom has issued an important update for people who access its services - please read below:

"The Cosy Kingdom energy advice service is currently receiving an unprecedented number of referrals and requests for advice and support.

While we have increased the size of our team this year, the pressures of the continued cost of living and energy crisis on households in Fife mean the demand for the service is outstripping our current capacity.

Cosy Kingdom's phone lines close at 3pm on Friday 23rd December and reopen at 10am on Monday 2nd January. During this time we will be directing people to other sources of support.

If you want to make a referral for someone you are working within the next few weeks, please help us to manage people’s expectations of the timescale in which they will receive advice.

Our next appointments for general energy advice are now at the end of January - dates for telephone appointments and home visits for people referred between now and Christmas will be either the end of January or potentially into February. For non-urgent energy advice support, we would politely request that you hold off making referrals until the New Year, where possible.

If people need help topping up their meters, we will aim to help them as soon as we possibly can. However, we cannot currently guarantee how long it will take us to arrange support and it may take a few days. They may want to contact their energy supplier directly for support.

Please ensure that those needing support are aware of other avenues of support available to them, such as the Scottish Welfare Fund’s crisis grants. If they are a Fife Council tenant please ensure that they have spoken to their Housing Management Officer (HMO) regarding support from the Fuel Poverty Mitigation Fund. If people do not know who their HMO is, this information is available by calling Fife Council’s general housing enquiry line on 03451 550 033.

Please be assured that we will deal with every incoming referral. There is no need to call or email to chase up referrals, as we have no capacity to bring appointments forward at this time."
