The Scottish Government - Rural and Islands Housing Funds
Created: 08/12/2022The Rural and Islands Housing funds aim to increase the supply of affordable housing of all tenures in rural Scotland and will contribute to the 50,000 affordable homes target. The funds have two components. The main one offers capital support (grant and loan) to enable the direct provision of new affordable housing and refurbishment of existing empty properties. A second, smaller component provides a contribution to feasibility studies.
Applications for feasibility funding will only be accepted from projects already invited to apply at the Expression of Interest stage
Who can apply
Both funds are open to a wide range of applicants including community organisations, development trusts, private landowners, private developers, traditional housing providers.

Complete pre-eligibility checker on the Government website and then submit an expression of interest form via e-mail.
When to apply
Applications can be submitted at any time. Those interested in applying should first complete the pre-application questionnaire which will help you decide if the Rural Housing Fund is right for your project.
