    Post: Handy Man

    Location: Buckhaven and Methil

    Contract: 6 month contract

    CLEAR seeks to recruit a Handy Man to work alongside workers and volunteers to fill gaps and carry out a range of general tasks including woodwork/bike repair, gardening (grascutting, strimming, maintenance, watering), litterpicking and similar.

    The duties include: 

    • Performing general woodwork tasks including making planters from recycled timber, fixing benches, installing outdoor interpretation boards.
    • Assisting in the bike workshop.
    • Garden maintenance at the community gardens, including grass cutting, strimming and weeding.
    • Landscaping to include tree planting and bulb planting.
    • Any other support or practical tasks which arise

    The successful candidate will work alongside the CLEAR staff and volunteer team to help on a wide range of community-based, environmental projects.

    Person specification:

    • Eager to engage in outdoor work, whatever the season and ideally an interest in gardening, growing, treeplanting etc.
    • Good timekeeping.
    • Good worker, willing to do hard work.
    • Good attitude and ability to work well with others.
    • Able to follow instructions, take advice.
    • Willing to get involved in a range of tasks including litterpicking, recycling, workshop activities.
    • Flexible and adaptable.

    Additional information:

    • A driving licence would be advantageous
    • Willingness to cycle a bonus
    • Previous experience

    PVG/Disclosure requirements:

    • Required - can start subject to a successful Disclosure/PVG scheme membership
