    Post: Participation and Engagement Officer

    Hours: 36 hours per week

    Salary: FC8 £34,614.51 - £38,312.49 per annum

    Location: Based in Glenrothes but working throughout Fife

    Contract: Permanent (3 posts)

    Fife Health and Social Care Partnership has an exciting opportunity for 3 Participation and Engagement Officers to join its team. The vision is for an integrated network of services that are planned, designed, and delivered with the involvement of people who use services and local communities in supporting health and wellbeing and ensures access to the right service, in the right place, at the right time; and enables people to live independent and healthier lives. These posts will support the development of locality engagement forums and will assist the public including carers to raise awareness of local need and ensure that their voices are heard. The role is varied and will involve planning and project management and will also involve talking and listening to members of the public and staffing groups right across the partnership and our partners and enabling them to reflect on needs and what they want to see prioritised in their locality. Your role will be to lead and deliver on the planning and engagement process.

    You will work collaboratively with people who use services and those important to them, service providers and other key stakeholders as required.   

    You will: establish Participation Groups to support effective participation and engagement processes, enabling services to be designed and delivered from the perspective of those who need them; ensuring the voices of people are heard across related governance groups; lead and deliver on all key engagement activities as required.

    You will establish effective channels of communications between partner agencies (Fife HSCP, NHS Fife, Fife Council, third sector and others as required), service users and communities.

    You will ensure that engagement mechanisms align with Fife HSCP vision, values, outcomes and complement other concurrent health redesign and locality planning programmes

    The Person

    Educated to SCQF level 9, which includes a degree or equivalent experience.

    • Previous experience of working with people who use services and communities to effect change and overcoming barriers to engagement.
    • A general understanding of the statutory landscape in Scotland, including national and local objectives.
    • Demonstrable knowledge and experienced in the application of the SCDC National Standards for Community Engagement; the Health Improvement Scotland Participation Toolkit; and/or the Scottish Government Planning with People Guidance.
    • Previous experience within a Local Authority, NHS or large organisation.
    • Experience of working with the public and Strategic and Operational Planning.
    • Understanding the benefits and barriers to public involvement in health and social care.
    • Ability to provide a regular and effective service.
    • Experience of project design, planning and implementation.
    • Report writing.
    • Initiative-taking skills.
    • Communication skills.  
    • Experience of multi-agency working.
    • Analytical skills.
    • Problem-solving skills.
    • Presentation skills.
    • Conflict handling skills.
