Employability and the role of Social Enterprise
Created: 31/08/2022Social Enterprise Scotland will hold on an online training session on Wednesday 14 September from 11:30 - 12:30pm highlighting the value of social enterprises for employability and have recently circulated details of this session as below:
"In Scotland, there's significant focus and money in employability services, yet employers still report difficulty in finding the people with the right talent, skills and approach necessary for their business needs. Conversely many people furthest from the labour market want to work but are often not given the opportunity - or at least the right opportunity. For them, employability support needs to go beyond the skills required to do a job, training, qualifications, important as these can be.
Social enterprises provide person-centred support, responsive to the needs of the individual. They understand the more traditional employability approaches do not suit everyone so offer choice and flexibility so that people can engage, feel empowered, and build their confidence. Social enterprises offer inclusive opportunities for people often left behind, through their employability services, and also through creating quality jobs where people feel valued in a supportive environment.
COPE, an award-winning social enterprise, will present at this meeting sharing their approach to providing employability, what really works for the people they support and hear some fantastic examples of people who have moved into and sustained work. We also want to hear about your employability work – or if it’s in your plans so please join us at this informal session."
