  • Community Led and Improving Lives to remain open

    Created: 25/08/2022
    News/Events Category: Funding and Finance

The National Lottery Community (NLC) Fund has announced that it is no longer closing its Community Led and Improving Lives programmes to applications on 30 September 2022.

The team is now contacting all current grant holders this week to advise them of this and will be updating its website today.

Both funds will remain open and available to applicants for an extended period and groups can continue to apply through these routes for the same types of activity as before.

The NLC Fund team states that its reasons for extending the fund are twofold:

"Firstly, we know that communities and organisations are facing a particularly tough time with the cost of living and other pressures and so we want to be open and there for people at a time when they need our funding most."

"Secondly, we want to ensure that we can develop the best funding programmes we can. That includes creating the best quality experience for our customers and getting the focus of that funding right to support the emerging needs of Scotland’s communities."

"We need some extra time to do this and so we will now launch our new funding offer in the latter part of 2023."

"In the meantime, we are considering changes to our existing funding in response to the cost-of-living crisis and we are doing this as quickly as we can. We will be in touch again with further details when these are confirmed."

What this news means for grant holders and applicants:

    • If they have already submitted an application to Community Led or Improving Lives it will be assessed as usual.
    • If they have a current grant from either of these funds that will carry on as normal.
    • Some groups may be thinking of applying or are in the process of filling out an application form. If this is the case, there is no deadline for them to submit their application.

If you, or any groups you’re speaking to, have any questions, please contact 0300 123 7110 or [email protected] to speak to the area funding teams.
