School Age Payment Applications Open
Created: 06/06/2022, Updated: 06/07/2022
School Age Payment has opened for applications, providing families with extra money to help with costs when a child is set to start school.
This is a one-off payment of £267.65 to help at a key stage in a child’s life, and can be used for anything from a new pair of shoes to books or arts and crafts materials. The payment is available to families who get tax credits and certain benefits with children born between 1 March 2017 and 28 Feb 2018.
Parents or carers who have deferred their child’s entry to school from August 2022 to August 2023, or people who are home schooling, should apply this year. There is no cap on the number of children in a household who can get this payment.
School Age Payment is a separate payment to the School Clothing Grant delivered by local authorities. Families and carers are encouraged to apply for both of these payments.
More information on the School Clothing Grant can be found on mygov.scot.
School Age Payment applications can be made between 01 June 2022 and 28 Feb 2023 when the application window closes.
