Fife Gingerbread - Better Todays and Brighter Tomorrows

News/Events Category: General NewsFife Gingerbread’s vision is to ‘create better todays and brighter tomorrows’ for parents and in turn, children and young people growing up in households facing multiple and complex barriers.
One of these barriers is securing and sustaining healthy, well paid, flexible employment and Fife Gingerbread believe that work can be a route out of poverty for lone parent families.
In order to address this barrier, Fife Gingerbread have recently launched ‘Lone Parents, Poverty and Work’, a new initiative aimed at bridging the gap between lone parents and employers. Through this initiative, Fife Gingerbread will empower lone parent families and facilitate long term change to reduce inequalities, improve outcomes for families and reduce the number of children in poverty.
Over the next few months, Fife Gingerbread will engaging and developing relationships with employers and training providers throughout Fife to raise awareness of their Employer Engagement Strategy and the unique challenges, inequalities and barriers to employment faced by lone parents. In assisting businesses to better understand the needs of lone parent families, Fife Gingerbread hope to inspire them to adapt, creating innovative approaches and flexible working practices to meet their own needs and those of lone parent families.
Fife Gingerbread would like to hear from businesses and potential employers who are interested in helping them design a progression pathway to support lone parents into work and children out of poverty.
