How volunteering and my caring role helped improve my CV
Created: 30/05/2022After attending an FVA workshop on volunteering, this client was keen to start exploring potential volunteering opportunities as a route to employment.
This client was a carer for a family member which meant she was unable to venture from her local community to look for work. She struggled with low mood as she couldn’t find a job.
Our Volunteering Development Officer supported this client by exploring volunteering opportunities and building her CV to maximise her chances of finding employment. Her experience as a carer and volunteer helped improve her CV by providing important life skills.
Our VDO also found mental health support to help the client with her feelings of poor mental health.
After a time, this client was successful in finding a job within her dream sector. She started as an apprentice within the transport sector and our VDO supported her with completing the application form and preparing for the interview. Our VDO said: “My client was successful at the interview, competing in the very saturated market. She had the confidence to attend the interview alone and clearly made a fantastic impression. She is due to start her new position in August and cannot wait to begin a career in this industry.”
