Barnardo’s Fife achieves the Volunteer Friendly Award

News/Events Category: FVA NewsWe’re delighted to share that Barnardo’s Fife is now officially a Volunteer Friendly organisation after achieving the Volunteer Friendly Award! The team worked hard with FVA to provide evidence on how they manage volunteers effectively, treat them fairly, train and support them in their roles, offer them the opportunity for personal development and celebrate the contribution they make to the organisation.
The Volunteer Friendly Award is a simple, user-friendly quality standard to support, recognise and reward groups that are good at involving volunteers. It has never been more important for groups to be able to show how good they are at involving and managing their volunteers. Volunteer Friendly helps you to take a systematic look at what you do and how you do it. It offers a flexible approach with full support from your local Third Sector Interface.
A member from Barnardo’s said: “I was aware of the Volunteer Friendly Award and that this was something FVA could assist with but there had never been quite the right time to pursue it. Our organisation were keen to achieve the award as recognition for our volunteer service within the locality.”
“I contacted FVA to enquire about achieving the Volunteer Friendly Award. I met with Ashleigh who explained the process, got me all the documentation and enrolled our service in the programme. She helped guide me through the process and was available for support and advice if required. We recently just had our portfolio verified and were awarded the Volunteer Friendly Achievement.”
“FVA supported me throughout the process whenever required. Clarification on questions and proof reading to reassure I was on the right track. They were attentive and found out any info I asked for, even if they didn’t know themselves.”
