Health and Social Care Strategy for Older People - Engagement event
Created: 19/05/2022Scotland's older population is increasing and by 2040, 25% of citizens will be aged 65 and over. Older people provide a valuable contribution to our society through employment, spending, volunteering, and often through unpaid caring; however, older age can bring disadvantages too, including greater reliance on our health and social care services.
It is clear that our health and social care services need to adapt now to be able to cope with the increasing ageing population and the complex health care needs that older people can have.
After launching its Statement of Intent in March 2021, which set out a plan to develop a new integrated health and social care strategy for older people, The Scottish Government has recently launched a consultation to gather your thoughts on the strategy.
We're hosting an engagement event for third sector organisations in Fife that are invested in the health and social care of older people and would like to be part of a collective response to this consultation. Louise Scott (Team Leader, Older People’s Health at The Scottish Government) will join us at this event to engage and hear your views on the strategy and will take these back to The Scottish Government.
This event will run from 10:00 - 12:00 on 28 June 2022 at our office in Glenrothes (Caledonia House, Pentland Park, Saltire Centre, Glenrothes, KY6 2AL). There will be a Zoom option available for those that would prefer to join remotely, but we do strongly encourage you to join us in person.
