The Scottish Government has published the No-One Left Behind Service Design Toolkit

The Service Design Toolkit focuses on User Centred Design, which places the user at the heart of the design of employability services.

This design process seeks an explicit understanding of users, tasks and environments, requiring employability service providers to consider the whole user experience, via iterative steps.

User-centred design prevents the design of impractical and expensive products that don’t meet user needs and by making the design decisions based on evidence, the process ensures finding the right problem to solve before commitment to establishing new projects.

A great deal of extremely useful information, guidance and evidence for the value of this approach can be found in the toolkit, which you can download here.
