This week, SCVO and partners are celebrating the incredible impact made by the Community Jobs Scotland (CJS) employability programme, which has supported over 10,000 young people into employment over the past decade.

The CJS programme has two aims: to provide positive destinations for young people furthest from the labour market; and to create jobs in the voluntary sector. It has achieved both of those aims.

By making use of the supportive working environment that charities, community organisations and social enterprises provide, the young people supported by CJS were able to grow their skills and confidence and feel valued. The employers received the added value which in turn benefits their local community. Across the 10,000+ jobs that were created, 40% of the young people were still employed 13 weeks after the original placement finished.
