  • Seminar series draws ‘gardening for wellbeing’ experts from around the world

    Created: 17/02/2022

Everyone involved in gardening for wellbeing will be delighted to learn about the 2nd online Seminar Series coming to their screens from Therapeutic Gardening Charity, Trellis. The event, which takes place from 07-11 March this year, will bring together experts from around the world who use gardening to support people’s wellbeing. A line-up of distinguished presenters, including practitioners from Germany, Iraq, Italy, Belgium, India, Brazil and Australia, will share their extensive and varied experiences and knowledge of therapeutic gardening. The programme also boasts a great ‘home grown’ panel of community champions from projects across the country including Edible Estates which supports community food growing in Edinburgh and Alcohol and Drugs Action (ADA) in Aberdeen.

With a wonderful mix of theory and practice, this series of online seminars builds on the huge success of last year’s inaugural event where almost 1,000 registrations were received. It’s sure to be of great value to everyone who uses gardening to help people of all ages improve their health and wellbeing. This free series is open for bookings now through the organisation’s website. Like many charities, Trellis adapted its operations during the pandemic so that it could keep on supporting practitioners gardening with vulnerable and isolated people. This meant moving many of their services online. Pre-covid, the charity ran a sell-out annual conference where delegates shared good practice, knowledge and experience, via keynote presentations and workshops. The Seminar Series is a fantastic alternative to this event which has seen practitioners from all over the world working collaboratively to exchange learning about therapeutic gardening. Fiona Thackeray, Head of Operations at Trellis, says of the event: “The overwhelming success and positivity generated by last year’s online seminar series made it an easy decision to repeat it this year as covid-19 continues to disrupt our everyday lives. We are delighted to once again to offer such an inspiring range of speakers from around the world to share with everyone who is involved in therapeutic gardening”.
