  • Gambling Toolkit

    Created: 08/02/2022

    Gambling - is it really a big deal?

    Most of us have played the lottery, put a bet on the Grand National or even go to the Bingo. But for some a casual flutter and an odd bet here and there can get out of control, having a negative effect on lives’.

    Gambling harm is not something new; however, it can often go unrecognised. This is why gambling is now referred to as the hidden addiction - and the relationship between gambling and suicide is now more apparent than ever.

    Recent research indicates that there may be between 250 and 650 gambling-related suicides every year in the UK......a minimum of one every working day.

    In order to help spot the signs and support the people of Fife who are affected by gambling, NHS Fife is working to;

    • help raise awareness of the harms;
    • provide useful information on who might be at risk; and
    • deliver training, so that together we can tackle gambling issues.

    You can now access a new and refreshed digital toolkit, developed by Fast Forward, here

    The toolkit provides information and resources to help you address youth gambling and gambling harms. It also shows how gaming and gambling are similar with an increasing amount of modern gambling games looking and feeling like video games.
