Adult Support and Protection awareness raising radio campaign
Created: 23/11/2021In the coming weeks you will hear the rollout of the next Adult Support and Protection Awareness Raising Radio Campaign, in conjunction with Fife’s Alcohol and Drug Partnership, on Kingdom FM radio station. This campaign will focus on raising the awareness of the impact of substances and how we can all do our part to prevent alcohol and drug related deaths.
Preventing people from dying from drug and alcohol-related deaths and developing long term health problems remains a high priority in Fife.
The stigma that people and their families feel as a result of addiction can contribute towards feelings of shame, increase isolation, and stop people getting the help they need.
Increasing education about preventing an overdose and promoting access to support for those at risk, their families and their communities will help people stay alive and start their recovery.
No one starts using drugs or alcohol with the intention of becoming dependant. The reasons for substance use are complex and unique to the individual.
Using alcohol and drugs can be a coping mechanism for trauma, painful emotions, and memories. It might provide temporary relief, but in the long-term can be very harmful and can also impair a person’s decision making, judgement and memory.
Problems with alcohol and drugs can be overcome and people can recover and lead full satisfying lives.
