FVA receives Cyber Essentials certification
Created: 04/10/2021FVA is now Cyber Essentials certified. Like many third sector organisations, we introduced new technologies and working from home, allowing more devices to access the organisation's IT systems. This increases risk and so we also invested in new hardware, software and staff training to manage risks. This has been rewarded with this certification, covering all FVA premises, homeworking and staff mobile devices.
Certification comes with cyber insurance protection and, going forward, it is anticipated that public sector bodies in the UK will only commission services from organisations that have Cyber Essentials certification or better (this is already the case for all central UK government commissioning).
The Cyber Essentials scheme is UK government-backed and overseen by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). To find out more about the Cyber Essentials please visit their website.
For information on digital security and data protection, and why it should matter to the trustees of all charities, please do contact us. We will be organising more training on cyber security in the coming weeks, so please do keep an eye out for that.
