    News/Events Category: General News

The Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care (SPPC) is currently seeking views, feedback and comments on a draft position paper which sets out the major issues affecting care and support of people living with serious illness, dying and bereavement in Scotland.

Every Story's Ending: Proposals to improve people's experiences of living with serious illness, death, dying and bereavement in Scotland proposes a practical agenda for progress over the next 3-10 years.

Every Story's Ending had been developed by the Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care (SPPC) in collaboration with those working in hospitals, hospices, communities, policy, with those responsible for planning and managing services, and with professional bodies and academia.

The draft document is designed to support and influence improvements to palliative and end of life care in the coming years, and the Scottish Government is supportive of this process

    The draft document:

    • sets out an ambition for what living with serious illness, dying and bereavement in Scotland could and should look like
    • explores what matters to people when they are seriously ill, dying or bereaved
    • takes stock of recent progress, work underway and the current situation in Scotland regarding people’s experiences of living with serious illness, dying and bereavement
    • explores why and how to make change happen over the next 3-10 years
    • identifies key challenges, priorities and actions that will make a positive difference to experiences of living with serious illness, dying and bereavement in Scotland.

The consultation will run until Friday 16 July.

Please send your response to: [email protected] cc’ing [email protected].

Given the length of the document, SPCC understand that most people may wish to only read/comment on specific sections of the document.
