Food insecurity over the summer holidays
Created: 15/06/2021As we approach the summer holidays, it is anticipated that more families and individuals across Fife will struggle to afford/access food and will turn to local foodbanks, community pantries, and community cafes for food provision and support.
As this is a pressing problem, we wanted to highlight that Glenrothes Foodbank and Leslie Community Pantry are appealing for people in the area to volunteer their time to help them provide extra help over the summer months to support those suffering from food insecurity.
The foodbank and pantry are looking for volunteers from 10:00 - 15:00 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and 10:00 - 13:00 on Tuesday. If you would like to volunteer at either of the charities, please contact Glenrothes Foodbank on 01592 631 088 or Leslie Community Pantry on 07730 789 255.
We will update our website with the latest announcements around further food provisions for individuals and families across the summer holidays as we receive that information.
In the meantime, please view this list from Fife Council which contains details of the foodbanks, community cafes, community fridges/pantries, and community growing spaces available across Fife.
