Summer of Play funding (8-25 year olds)
Created: 03/06/2021The Scottish Government announced some additional funding back in March for play activity during the summer for children and young people (8-25 years old). There are two main pots - one has been distributed across local authorities, and Fife has received £1.1m. The other pot is £5m across Scotland to be distributed through national voluntary sector organisations (Youthlink Scotland and Creative Scotland). See the Scottish Government guidance on this. The guidance sets out the priority groups, for example low income families, children with disabilities and so on. It is our understanding that you can only access funding from one of the pots, not both.
In relation to the local funding in Fife, the guidance clearly sets out a significant role for third sector providers and for working in partnership and building on existing service provision in the area.
CLD Team Managers across Fife are working with third sector providers to put in place summer play provision in their area. Hopefully, organisations are connected in to those conversations and opportunities locally. If not, please contact your local CLD Team Manager (see below).
